The effect of positive thinking on our health is accumulative

The effect of positive thinking on our health is accumulative and cannot be noticed immediately. It is similar to physical exercise. The effect of negativity on our health is also accumulative and cannot be noticed immediately. It is similar to smoking.

In fact, the effects of all forms of alternative health approaches, such as yoga and breathing, are accumulative.

Their benefits are more evident in prevention than cure.

Perhaps modern medicine does not take alternative health approaches seriously because it can't see the immediate effect and/or it is more interested in cure than prevention. I don't blame them. Modern medicine has made us more healthy. There is no doubt about it. And alternative medicine will never be a substitute for modern medicine.

If you have an infection, no amount of breathing, stretching or positive thinking will cured it. Potent antibiotics are needed, and often surgery. No natural herb could be as effective.

However, breathing, relaxation techniques and positive thinking do have a tremendous impact on your overall health on the long term. They are things that we do every second of the day. The way we do them is bond to have an enormous impact that might prevent us from being vulnerable to getting sick in the first place.

If you are constantly holding your breathing, tensing your muscles, and thinking negatively all day, this can have a negative impact on your health over the course of a few months. It's just like smoking. It won't kill you tomorrow, but it will affect you negatively over a long time.
Whereas if you are breathing deeply, remembering to relax your muscles and think positively, it won't have an impact on your health immediately, but over the course of a few months in will have a tremendous effect. Similarly, if you quit smoking today your health won't improve tomorrow, but it will improve over time.

Hold your breath, tensing your muscles, or thinking negative thoughts sickens you slowly.

Tension makes you sick on small levels, but when you sicken yourself mildly 20 times a day over the course of 365 days, the effect can be enormous, even though you may not know it is happening because it is so slow.

Yoga, breathing, relaxation techniques and positive thinking have a tremendous impact on your health long term, but their short term impact cannot be noticed. Therefore, it is hard for people to be convinced that they are worth investing in. If you tell them to breath for a few minutes they will say yeah, right.
"Moment by moment, we’re consciously or unconsciously choosing healthy
thoughts or unhealthy thoughts. These thoughts affect our bodies. One thought by
itself doesn’t have much influence over us. However, we all think more than
60,000 thoughts a day, and the effect on our thoughts is cumulative."
Louise L. Hay
