Utilizing Energy Burnt While Exercising for Practical Use?

We spend a lot of energy when we exercise, yet that energy is not utilized in a productive way.

When I was growing up, when I would exercise, my mother used to tell me, "There is a lot of work to be done around the house. Why waste all that energy for nothing when you can be putting it to practical use?"

I have always wondered about that. In a time of energy crises, we are looking for ways to use energy efficiently, yet we are letting the energy within us just burn into the air.

I love to exercise, and I can go to the gym and run around for hours, but when it comes to cleaning the house, I feel like I have no energy to do it. Why is that?

The answer is simple. Exercising is fun, housework is not.

But then again, that is only a thought. Can't that thought be changed?

Perhaps exercising for half an hour before doing housework will energize you to do housework wholeheartedly. Perhaps it will ignite some starting emotional energy that will motivate you to do practical work. Perhaps listening to something motivating can motivate you. Maybe mixing housework with dancing, by taking dance breaks every half hour can help you motivated.

Much creativity is needed to make housework fun. I have to work on this and find a way to change my attitude. I would appreciate any ideas.

Housework isn't the best exercise for weight loss, because it depends mostly on your arms (the small engines) and not your legs (the big engines). Nonetheless, it does strengthen your arms, which is important. It also makes you feel good when you actually complete chores.
